The City of York today announced that the community Christmas Tree will arrive in Continental Square in downtown York on Tuesday, November 14, 2023 at approximately 9:15 a.m. All are invited to watch in person or online. You may follow the progress of the tree on the York City Special Events Facebook page at www.facebook.com/yorkcityspecialevents.
This year’s tree has been donated by Scott and Debbie Young of Dover. The tree will be cut and moved to the square with the help of Kinsley Construction (crane and operator, truck) and the York City Electrical Bureau. The route will be south on Route 74 to Market St., then left onto Market St. to Continental Square. The expected departure time from Dover is 8:45 am.
Mayor Michael Helfrich extended an enthusiastic “thank you” to Scott and Debbie Young on behalf of all the residents of York City and York County as well as to Kinsley Construction for their generous donations. Media interested in joining Kinsley and the City of York for the cutting and removal of the tree should reach out directly to Kate Harmon at yorkcityspecialevents@gmail.com.
The tree will be decorated in preparation for the annual Light Up York ceremony sponsored by WellSpan Health. Light Up York will be held on Continental Square on Friday, December 1.
