On Thursday April 18, 2024, the City of York Department of Fire/Rescue Services will be promoting six members and will recognize two members who retired. We will also be recognizing the firefighter of the year for 2023. The officers will be sworn in by Mayor Michael Helfrich at 3:00 pm at City Hall (101 S George St. York, PA 17401) in Council Chambers.
- Captain Kevin Pflaum will be promoted to Assistant Chief.
- Lieutenant Marc Ott will be promoted to Captain.
- Firefighter Gregory Myers will be promoted to Lieutenant.
- Firefighter Josua Landis will be promoted to Lieutenant.
- Firefighter Mark Pretz will be promoted to Lieutenant.
- Firefighter Steven Whiteman will be promoted to Lieutenant.
We will also be recognizing the retirements of Asst. Chief Patrick Rose, and Firefighter Chris Grove.
The firefighter of the year for 2023 will also be announced.
