Why donate towards the project?

The new woodland playground at Farquhar Park will offer play areas for infants, tots, and youth. The Play equipment and playground space will be developed with a woodland / nature theme. The playground layout will incorporate the nearby hillside to create a dynamic multi-level playscape. There will be colored rubber safety surface in the play areas to compliment the woodland / nature theme and provide additional play opportunities and visual interest.  Seatwalls, plaza areas with seating, a second small pavilion, and nearby accessible parking will complement the play area, provide comfortable areas for caregivers, and enhance the visitor’s experience. All improvements will comply with safety and accessibility standards, creating a play space that can be enjoyed by children of all abilities.

What are the benefits?

The dynamic play area will encourage physical activity, creative play, social interactions, motor skills development, and overall health to support cognitive, emotional, and sensory development. The new woodland playground and restrooms will support the activities of the City of York Summer Playground Program. Park improvements will encourage residents to spend time outdoors engaging in healthy activities.
