The City of York today announced that its Gamewell fire alarm system is being retired due to difficulty of replacing central system infrastructure at the Rex/Laurel fire stations and the ongoing exorbitant cost and maintenance of the system. City Ordinance Section 1501.04(15) still requires maintaining a fire alarm system through a third-party contractor.
As we begin the winter season of 2024, the City of York snow emergency team wants to remind businesses of some of the York City Snow Emergency Regulations Specifically, as they apply to plowing of private parking lots and the disposal of snow.
Due to the overnight snow and hazardous driving conditions, the City of York announces to curbside customers that there be NO curbside collections today, Tuesday, January 16th. This affects collections Tuesday through Friday.
A new all-way stop will go into effect at the intersection of West Maple and Manor Streets. Currently, there are only stop signs for West Maple traffic.

A scheduled closure of West Philadelphia Street from North George Street to North Beaver Street during the weekend of January 5 to January 7, 2024 has been cancelled. Street parking in the affected area will be allowed, and access to the Philadelphia Street parking garage will remain open.
