The City of York encourages residents to look into help with their sewer bills through discounts provided by Pennsylvania American Water. More than 5,000 customers in the City are eligible for the H2O Help to Others program, for example, but only 4% of City residents have enrolled.
H2O Help to Others provides discounts of 37% to 85% on monthly sewer bills for a single individual making less than $2,510 monthly and a family of six making less than $6,993 monthly. Up to $500 grants per year are also available per household for a single individual making less than $3,137 monthly and a family of six making $8,741 monthly.
In addition, Pennsylvania American Water has added a new Arrearage Forgiveness Program. The Program forgives $25 of past due balances when an H2O Help to Others household pays in full their current monthly bill plus $5.
