Five New Probationary Police Officers to Be Sworn In

The York City Police Department will swear in 5 new police officers on Monday, December 30 at 1 pm in Council Chambers at City Hall, 101 S. George St. The new officers will be joined with friends and family. Brief biographies follow.

Stephen Marte’s passion for law enforcement is deeply rooted in his childhood experiences growing up in a challenging environment in New York City. At the end of 2023, Stephen felt called to step away from law enforcement with the Harrisburg Police Department for a season, embracing a deeper relationship with God. Following this transformative period, he begins his journey back to law enforcement, where he feels divinely led to serve. Fluent in Spanish, Stephen is currently learning sign language to better serve the deaf and hard-of-hearing community.

Steven Reid graduated from York High School in 2012. Inspired by Commissioner Muldrow, he felt compelled to rejoin his community in service, bringing pride, professionalism, and dedication to his role. Steven earned the prestigious Most Inspirational Cadet Award at Harrisburg University. Steven’s hobbies include traveling and barbering, but his true passion lies in mentoring York’s youth. He strives to bridge the gap between young people and law enforcement, always prioritizing the well-being of the citizens he serves. Steven is dedicated to supporting individuals in need, regardless of their background, social status, or circumstances.

Dominic Colombo’s career in law enforcement began in 2015 when he joined the Richmond Police Department in Richmond, Virginia. His dedication and skill earned him a place on the Tactical Unit. In this elite unit, he worked on cases involving gun violence, drug offenses, violent crime, and fugitive apprehensions. As he steps into his new role with the York City Police Department, Dominic is eager to bring his wealth of knowledge and experience back to the community where he grew up. He looks forward to building relationships with the citizens of York and contributing to the city’s safety and success.

Jessee McCardle chose to serve as a police officer in the city of York because of the opportunities it provides to engage directly with residents. He values building positive relationships with the community and strives to be a trusted resource and advocate for the people he serves. Through frequent interactions, Jesse is committed to fostering trust and strengthening the bonds between law enforcement and the community.

Owen Henty’s aspiration to become a police officer stems from a deep desire to serve and protect his community while fostering meaningful connections within it. His inspiration is also shaped by his father, a 20-year veteran of the York City Police Department, whose positive impact on the community, both on and off duty, has been a profound influence on Owen’s career ambitions.
