On Friday August 23, 2019, the City of York Department of Fire/Rescue Services responded to a reported high-risk structure fire at 133 N Duke St. Crews arrived on scene with heavy smoke showing from the mall and fire through the roof of the Aurora’s Bakery located in this complex.
The fire was investigated by the City of York Department of Fire/Rescue Services, York County District Attorney’s Office Fire Marshal, Pennsylvania State Police and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms (ATF). Cause of the fire was determined to be an accidental fire caused by spontaneous combustion of oily rags in the rear office of the Panaderia Bakery.
Damages And Closings
Fire caused significant damage throughout the entire complex. Currently all nine (9) stores are closed due to fire, water and/or smoke damage. Damage estimates are listed at $5,000,000.00 ($2 million structure and $3 million contents).
