York City provides parking permits for residents living in areas to be affected by the annual State Fair and other events held at the York Fairgrounds. Each household will be allowed a maximum of three (3) resident permits and a maximum of three (3) visitor permits. Additional visitor permits may be granted due to extenuating circumstances, however, additional permits will be capped. The Requirements for Obtaining Fair Parking Permits:
- Proof of Residency
- Registration card for each vehicle receiving a permit
- Valid Driver’s License
All Resident’s living within the established area must display permit on the Driver’s Side Rear window of their car or Center of the Dashboard if the driver’s side rear window is tinted. Motorcycles will also need a permit to avoid a parking ticket. Permits are only valid within one block of the of the permit holder’s residence.
Street sweeping in the residential fair area will be suspended during the York State Fair.
Permits will be distributed from City Hall at 101 S. George St. weekdays from 9am-4pm and from the Police Dept at 50 W. King St. weekdays from 4pm-10pm.
Please note that the York State Fair will be held at the end of July beginning in 2021. Parking permits will be made available in early July and will be available until the final day of the fair. Enforcement of Fair permits begins at Noon of the first day of Fair.
Other events requiring parking permits will be made available to the public as soon as possible prior to the start of the event and can be acquired until the final day of the event. Enforcement of declared events at the York Fairgrounds will begin at the event’s start time. Street cleaning may be suspended depending on the event being held.
