The City of York is announcing the start of construction on the North George Street Pedestrian and Safety Project. The construction will begin Monday, March 13, 2023, and continue through the summer; it is anticipated to be completed in September.
A key feature of the project includes the widening of the Codorus Creek Bridge sidewalk to accommodate pedestrians and bicycles on the York County Heritage Rail Trial. The resurfacing portion of the project will extend 0.741 miles from North Street to Dewey Avenue in North York Borough.
The $2.4 million construction project is being funded through the York Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) using U.S. Department of Transportation Federal Highway Administration Funds. Local contractor, Kinsley Construction, was awarded the project.
