The York City Parks & Recreation Bureau invites residents and visitors to attend the 26th Annual William Shaffer Trout Fishing Derby. The Fishing Derby will be held at Kiwanis Lake, 300 Parkway Boulevard on Saturday, April 5, 2025, from 8:00 am to Noon, rain or shine.
The Derby is for children ages 15 and under. All children should be accompanied by an adult.
The Derby is a fun, free family event. Come early to find your spot around the lake, which will be stocked with trout.
William Shaffer was a private citizen from York County who wanted to teach City youth a recreational hobby that they could carry throughout their lifetime. His efforts evolved into the current annual Trout Fishing Derby.
This event is sponsored by Etzweiler Funeral Homes, Hawks Club, Izack Walton League – Chapter 67, Dicks Sporting Goods, Fishing Derby Volunteers, and York City Parks & Recreation.
