Looking for something to do ... special events, trips, activities?

This is the place to find it! You will find information on youth programs not only sponsored by York City Recreation & Parks Bureau, but by various groups and organizations throughout York County.

 

40th Annual Easter Egg Hunt – Kiwanis Lake (Parkway Blvd. & N. Newberry St.)
Saturday, March 28th, 1:00 pm (Ages 1 through 8)
Rain Date – Sunday, March 29th, 1:00 pm
Youth are invited to hunt for plastic eggs filled with candy and prizes. 

 

16th Annual William Shaffer “Kids Hooked on Fishing” Trout Fishing Derby (Ages 15 & under accompanied by Parents)
Saturday, April 4th, 8:00 am to 12:00 noon *Rain or Shine at Kiwanis Lake (Parkway Blvd. & N. Newberry St.)
This event is free to public. Prizes given away for largest Trout caught.

Summer Parks & Playgrounds - June 22nd through July 30th
Summer Playground Program will begin on Monday, June 22nd and will end on Thursday, July 30th. The program runs for 6 weeks.

Ages:  6 to 14

Hours of Operation: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Breakfast will be served at 8:30 a.m. and lunch will be served at 12 noon, provided by Summer Meal Program.

This year the program will consist of two parts. An educational program, conducted by Communities In Schools, which will take place in the morning from 9 a.m. to noon and a recreational program, conducted by City of York Recreation Staff, that will run from noon to 4 p.m. Activities include games, arts and crafts and field trips.

Please Note: Children must participate in both programs (educational & recreational) in order to enroll in the Summer Playground Program.

Registration Date/Location:
June 15th through 18th, between the hours of 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.
City Hall Lobby (101 South George Street)

Registration Fees:
City Resident - $25.00 first child / $20.00 each additional child
Non-City Resident - $55.00 first child / $50.00 each additional child

Evening Program at Penn Park ONLY:
Monday through Thursday from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. – FREE ENROLLMENT
 

22nd Annual FREE Art in the Park Program, 6:30 to 7:30 pm
Art in the Park will be celebrating 22 years of offering free art and craft programs to City Youth. The program will be held Monday through Friday from 6:30 to 7:30 pm in the following parks:
Yorktown Park – June 29th through July 3, 2015
Allen Park – July 6th through July 10, 2015
Albemarle Park – July 13th through July 17, 2015
Lincoln Park – July 20th through July 24, 2015, and
Penn Park – July 27th through July 31st 

Park Sites: Allen Park, Bantz Park, Lincoln Park, Memorial Park Complex and Yorktown Park.
