Wastewater Treatment Plant Accomplishments

 

2008 In 2008 the cumulative savings realized through the implementation of action plans as outlined in the Cost Savings Initiative surpassed $5,600,000.
   
2006 In 2006 the cumulative savings realized through the implementation of action plans as outlined in the Cost Savings surpassed $4,300,000.
   
2004 In 2004 the cumulative savings realized through the implementation of action plans as outlined in the Cost Savings Initiative surpassed $3,100,000.
   
2002 In 2002 the cumulative savings realized through the implementation of action plans as outlined in the Cost Savings Initiative surpassed $2,000,000.
   
2000 Cumulative savings realized through the implementation of action plans as outlined in the Cost Savings Initiative surpassed $1,000,000 in October.
   
1999
Awarded first place in the Large Advanced Wastewater Treatment category by the United States Environmental Protection Agency.

Recognized by Governor Tom Ridge for "Environmental Excellence".

Reduced operating expenses by $410,236 (as outlined in our Cost Savings Initiative) without diminishing the quality of the effluent.
   
1998 Reduced operating expenses by $284,937 by implementing several of the action plans outlined in our Cost Savings Initiative.
   
1997 Received the Governor's Award for Environmental Excellence from Governor Tom Ridge.
Received the "Central Pennsylvania Water Quality Association 1997 Class II Plant Safety Award"

Began developing our Cost Savings Initiative.
   
1996 The Chesapeake Local Government Advisory Committee selected the facility as the recipient of its award for Innovative Community Development. This award was given to the treatment facility for its use of the Kruger A/O biological nutrient removal process.
   
1995
Received the Pennsylvania Water Environment Association Plant Operations and Maintenance Excellence Award. In receiving the award the plant was noted for accomplishing the mission of the P.W.E.A. which is to protect, preserve, and improve the water environment in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.

Received the top award by the United States Environmental Protection Agency Region III for "Operations and Maintenance Excellence".
