In May of 2009, York's Lincoln Park was the first park to be renovated by Bring on Play. The existing, outdated play structure was replaced by two new, unique play structures, one for children ages 2 to 5 and one for children ages 5 to 12. The capacity of the play area was nearly tripled. In addition to new play equipment, new benches and walking trails were also added. In the summer of 2010 the City added a concert series, held at the park's band pavilion. The concert series is scheduled to return in the summer of 2011. The Annual Day of Play will return this summer as well.
In September of 2010, York's Allen Park was the second park to be renovated by Bring on Play. Again, the existing, outdated play structure was replaced by two new, unique play structures, one for children ages 2 to 5 and one for children ages 5 to 12. Additionally, a new pavilion and a trike path, with line striping and signage were added as well. In 2011, the Annual Day of Play will make it's debut at Allen Park.
On Sept. 16, 2011 members of the Bring on Play committee, the York Revolution and the City of York joined together to install new play equipment at Westminster Park. Westminster Park is located directly behind Sovereign Bank Stadium. This effort was made possible by the York Revolution and all of those who purchased water bottles that funded this project. An official grand opening will most likely be held in the spring of 2012. Come visit the new Westminster Park soon!
