TRAFFIC ADVISORY UPDATE

 
 
 
 

APRIL 23, 2016

On Saturday, April 23, 2016, Downtown Inc. will be sponsoring “Go Green in the City”. Artisans, green-conscious businesses, nonprofits and food vendors will set up along N. Beaver St and N. Pershing  Ave to showcase their eco-friendly products, services, educational information and crafts.  In addition, participating shops and restaurants throughout downtown York will be offering green themed events, products, specials and promotions.

 

The event hours are from 10:00am until 3:00pm.  The first block of N. Beaver St and the first block of N. Pershing Ave. will be closed to vehicular traffic from 8:00am until 4:00pm.  Parking will be prohibited on those two streets from 7:00am until 4:00pm.  Additionally, W. Clarke Ave from Beaver to Pershing will also be closed to motorists from 8:00am until 4:00pm.

 

 

Motorists are encouraged to exercise patience and use extra caution due to the large number of participants who will be attending this event.

On Saturday, April 23rd, 2016, The Child Abuse Prevention Outreach Committee (CAPOC) will host their annual walk to raise awareness of child abuse. This event will be held in Penn Park from 8:00am to 2:00pm. There will be various social service agencies with information tables to provide info to the public.

 

Motorists are encouraged to exercise patience and use extra caution due to the large number of participants who will be attending this event.  

 

APRIL 30, 2016

 
 

The York City School District is sponsoring an Education First Parade and Rally in and around Penn Park on Saturday, April 30, 2016.  The hours of the event are from 11am until 5pm.  A parade from Small’s Athletic Field will proceed south on George Street to College Avenue, and then will proceed west on College Avenue to Penn Park where the Rally will be held.  This will result in temporary road closures along this route from 11am to 12pm. Also, Lindberg Avenue will be closed to vehicular traffic from West College Avenue to Lafayette Street during those hours.  Parking will be prohibited on that street as well as Lafayette Street from 12:00pm to 8:00pm.

On Saturday, April 30, 2016, there will be a Community Fair promoting Healthy Choices for Youth.  The event will take place in the 1st Block N. Newberry St. (Between Market St. and Philadelphia St.)     The event will take place between 10am and 1pm., however the road will be closed and there will be no parking in that block beginning at 7am.  The street will reopen @ 1:30pm and parking will once again be permissible.

The Race against Racism will be held Saturday April 30, 2016 from 9:00 a.m. until Noon. The race will begin in front of the Y.W.C.A. in the 300 Blk.  E. Market St. and will effect the following streets as the race passes.

·          E.  Market St. from Queen St. to Hartman St.

·          Hartman St. from E. Market St. to Hay St.

·          Hay St. from Hartman St. to Tremont St.

·          Tremont St. from Hay St. to Wallace St.

·          Wallace St. from Tremont St. to Mulberry St.

·          Mulberry St. from Wallace St. to Hay St.

·          Hay St. from Mulberry to State St.

·          State St. from Hay St. to Wallace st.

·          Wallace St. from State St. to Broad St.

·          Broad St. from Wallace St. to Chestnut St.

·          Chestnut St. from Broad St. to Pine St.

·          Pine St. from Chestnut St. to Market St.

Several of these streets will be CLOSED to vehicular traffic beginning at 8:00am and will reopen immediately after the race passes through.

 

There will be NO PARKING restrictions on Reinecke Pl. from Pine St. to Columbia Ave. which will begin at 7:30am and last until noon.

Anyone traveling in the area of this event should expect delays and use caution due to the large number of participants attending this event.   Please obey all directions given by authorized personnel.
