 CITY SNOW EMERGENCY LIFTED
 
Friday, January 29, 2016 - Mayor C. Kim Bracey has announced that the snow emergency will be lifted effective Sunday, January 31st at 7:00am.  However, once the snow emergency is lifted, residents will no longer be permitted to keep their vehicles in the city garages free of charge.

FOR SATURDAY, JANUARY 30, 2016
 
Mayor Kim Bracey has announced that snow removal will take place on the following streets in York. Traffic will be restricted during this operation and No Parking restrictions will be in place. Removal operations will begin on Saturday, January 30, 2016 at 7:00 A.M.
All snow will be removed in the street along the curbline.

Mayor Bracey To Hold Press Briefing
Wednesday, January 27 at 11 am
 

 

Mayor C. Kim Bracey will hold a press briefing Wednesday, January 27th at 11:00 am to provide a winter storm update. The briefing will take place in City Council Chambers. News media is asked to please park in the lot or on King Street and use the back entrance. The briefing will be aired live on White Rose Community TV, channel 16 and 18. 

 

MAYOR BRACEY REMINDS RESIDENTS THAT FREE PARKING IS AVAILABLE DURING THE SNOW EMERGENCY

 
January 26, 2016 - Mayor C. Kim Bracey reminds residents that free parking is available on the following city owned lots during the snow emergency.
Free parking is available during the snow emergency at the following city owned parking lots:
Lot no. 2 – 300 block of W. King St.
Lot no. 3 – 100 block of S. Duke St.
Lot no. 4 – 100 block of S. Howard Ave
Lot no. 9 – Park Lane Plaza, 100 Block W. King St.
Lot no. 11 –100 block East Princess St.
Lot no. 12 – 700 block of East Mason Ave.
Lot no. 14 – Penn and St. Paul Streets
Lot no. 17 – 200 block of West Market St. rear (Mason Ave.)
Lot no. 21 - 300 block of West Philadelphia and Roosevelt

Residents should listen to local radio and television stations or log on to the City's web site at www.yorkcity.org for snow related announcements

 

 

MAYOR BRACEY EXTENDS SNOW REMOVAL REQUIREMENT IN THE CITY OF YORK

January 26, 2016 - In consideration of the excessive amount of snow that has fallen Mayor C. Kim Bracey has announced that the snow removal requirement is being extended until Monday, February 1, 2016. Residents and businesses are urged to do their very best to remove snow from sidewalks as quickly as possible but to use caution while clearing snow. Take frequent breaks and stay hydrated. If you have elderly neighbors or neighbors with health issues, please check on them and if possible help them clear snow from their sidewalks.

Also everyone should be advised that throwing or pushing shoveled or plowed snow into the street is forbidden and this will be aggressively enforced in order to allow our Public Works Department to clear the streets and keep them clear.

CITY SNOW EMERGENCY CONTINUES

NO TRASH COLLECTION THIS WEEK 

Mayor C. Kim Bracey has announced that the snow emergency is projected to remain in effect until Friday, January 29that 5:00 pm.  During that time, parking is not permitted on snow emergency routes. However, residents will be permitted to keep their vehicles in the city garages until Monday, February 1st at 7:00 A.M.

Trash and recyclables will not be collected this week, with collection expected to resume on Monday, February 1, 2016. 
           
 
SNOW EMERGENCY DECLARED

 

 

Mayor C. Kim Bracey has declared a snow emergency for the City of York for Friday, January 22, 2016 at 7:00 P.M.  Vehicles must be removed from the following snow emergency routes by 7:00 P.M. :

 
                   Market Street, City limit to City limit
                   Philadelphia Street, City limit to Carlisle Avenue
                   Queen Street, City limit to Arch Street
                   George Street, City limit to City limit
                   Princess Street, City limit to City limit
                   Duke Street, Jackson Street to North Street
                   W. King Street from S. Beaver to S. George Streets
                   Beaver Street from North Street to W. College Avenue
 
All vehicles must be removed from snow emergency routes by Friday, January 22, 2016 at 7:00 P.M.
 
If Vehicles are not removed by the date and time ordered above, they will be ticketed and towed.
Free parking is available at the following locations:
                   Lot #2 – 300 block of W. King Street
                   Lot #3 – 150 S. Duke Street
                   Lot #4 – Newton & Howard
                   Lot #7 – 600 block of West Mason Avenue
                   Lot #11 – Duke and Princess Street
                   Lot #12 – 700 block East Mason Avenue
                   Lot #14 – Penn and St. Paul Streets

Free parking for city residents on snow emergency routes is also available in the city garages, starting at 6:00 P.M., Friday, January 22, 2016 until the snow emergency is lifted.

Philadelphia Street Garage – 25 West Philadelphia Street
King Street Garage – 15 West King Street
 
 
What are Snow Emergency Routes?
Snow emergency routes are specially designated and marked roads in the City, which are the top priority for snow plowing. When the Mayor declares a snow emergency situation, parking on these roads will not be permitted.
 
What Happens If I Do Not Move My Vehicle?
Vehicles that are not moved by the deadline will be ticketed and towed. They will be taken to an impound lot.  The owner can retrieve the vehicle by paying the towing charge and any additional charges. Contact York City Police at 846-1234 if your car has been towed.
