TRAFFIC ADVISORY UPDATE

West Princess Street Bridge To Close For Repairs
The bridge that carries West Princess Street over the Codorus Creek in York City will be closed until fall for repairs, the York County Board of Commissioners today announced.

Weather permitting, repair work on the County-owned bridge is scheduled to begin Monday, April 18 and continue through mid-October.

The closure is necessary so construction crews can replace the bridge’s deteriorating superstructure, the upper portion of the bridge that is driven upon by vehicles. The bridge is structurally deficient and has a posted weight restriction that will be lifted upon completion of the work.

A detour using West College Avenue and West King Street will be posted to help drivers navigate around the closure.

Commissioners approved the bridge construction work in January. Dauphin County-based Deblin, Inc. was awarded a $1.97 million contract, with funding coming from the County’s portion of Marcellus Shale Legacy funds.

An estimated 8,100 vehicles travel the bridge daily
