2014 MLK America's Sunday Supper

January 19, 2014

4:00pm

Lincoln Charter School

559 W. King Street

York, PA 17401

On Sunday January 19th, 2013, at 4:00 p.m. Mayor C. Kim Bracey and Asbury United Methodist Church invite you to the 2014 MLK America’s Sunday Supper: Where Do We Go From Here?, a FaithNet initiative. The event will take place at Lincoln Charter School, 559 W. King St., York, PA. This is the second year for this thought provoking and encouraging event.

The community is encouraged to come together, share a meal, and discuss the current state of our youth after viewing the documentary “The Graduates”, which explores the pressing issues in education today through the eyes of six Latino and Latina students from across the United States.

“It gives me great pleasure to once again honor the rich legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. in the City of York by encouraging our community to gather together and discuss new and current solutions to uplift our youth,” states Mayor Bracey.

MLK America’s Sunday Supper is a national event sponsored by Rethink Church and Points of Light, which is inspired by the legacy of Dr. King to invite individuals from diverse backgrounds to come together, share a meal, and discuss issues that affect their community, while highlighting the power that each individual has to make a difference. Community members are encouraged to bring footwear in any condition to provide to the Shoes for Shalom project, in which shoes will be sent to Haiti, South America, and Africa to micro-finance new businesses.
